Weigh In Wednesday

Weigh In Wednesday

So, here we are another weigh in wednesday. This time there is no dietbet goal to meet or talk about (although I’m for sure doing another one… April, maybe?) and to be honest I think I need to give myself a little break from the scale. I’ve heard so many people talk about breaking up with the scale… and while I like the idea behind it I don’t think I should do it permanently at this point. After tons of weight loss challenges in the last several months I have become a little to focused on the number. It stresses me out, and it really can make or break my day on weigh in days. I need a break to decompress from it all. I’ll be back to regular weigh ins in the next few weeks, but for now I’m just going to take a break from the number… and just focus on making healthy choices.

To be honest, this week has been stressful and the number probably wouldn’t have been pretty anyway. I’ve got some more travel this week/weekend which also stresses me out… I hate packing… So I just needed a break. And you know what? That is ok.

Have you ever taken a break from the scale?

I need to get back together with the scale. I’ve been on a break with the scale, and as I’m seeing myself in the mirror I’m noticing things that I want to no longer have. I’m doing the FF DietBet, so it gives me a reason to be concentrating more on the number for a bit of time. You’re doing a fantastic job! Keep it up Courtney!

Yes I am doing it right now. I was weight myself twice a day and it was making me crazy. I am back to weighting in once a week and posting my results once a month. I feel a lot calmer.

Oh it sounds like a little “space” in your scale relationship could be good :)

I definitely have an on-again-off-again relationship with my scale. Some times she just drives me nuts and I need space. As long as you are still focusing on health that’s all that matters. Maybe instead of weight, make goals for each week and report on those on Wednesdays instead of the scale number.

I am in the midst of a No Scale Challenge with a friend of mine. The last time I weighed was March 1st and Wong weigh again until April 1st. Most day it feels so freeing, other days, I feel like not knowing the number on the scale daily or even weekly will cause me to lose focus and spin out of control.

I have gained weight since I started lifting a year ago, and even though I know it’s muscle and that I look and feel better than I have, it’s still hard to look at the numbers sometimes. It’s a different mentality from being underweight and the weight creeping up than being overweight and the weight coming down, but either way – I like the idea of ditching the scale.
It creates false ideas of progress.. especially since you carry so much muscle, it can really skew the results you think you’re seeing!

I am still pretty tied to mine.
I did read an article recently about weight gain with Cross Fit–how it’s to be expected–especially when starting–because of engaging/strengthening muscles that haven’t been used in a while, the body will retain more water for muscle repair, etc.

I have major issues with my scale – and breaking up is very hard to do. I’m one of those psycho weigh myself every day people but it keeps me on track.

I’m on my weight challenge that started 3 weeks ago. I know what you mean by taking a break from the scale, I got that feeling especially when I was starting out. But I hope to keep the challenge until I reach my weight goal.

I haven’t owned a scale in a while because I’ve found that when I do I obsessively weight myself, which is not healthy. Plus, Crossfit makes you gain muscle so you may start to gain weight again even after you reach your goal weight.
