Yesterday marked exactly 10 weeks until I have my excess skin removal surgery. Uhm, what? When I scheduled it August seemed like it would never come. Then life happened and all of a sudden it’s June! Gosh, I’ve worked so hard for this. And it still doesn’t seem real that it is happening.
10 weeks seems so long and so short all at the same time. I’m full of so many emotions. Of course, I’m SO excited. I’m also nervous. I know recovery is going to be a long road. It is bitter sweet as we start planning events with our CrossFit box for the fall and knowing I’ll be out of commission for them. I know it will be hard to not be involved, but I keep reminding myself that I’ve done much harder things.
When it comes down to the day of the surgery I want to walk in knowing I’ve done everything I can to get my body ready. This means I’m going to be in full on focus mode for the next 10 weeks. I’ve worked hard the last 4+ years to lose the weight I have already. The way I did that was making lasting changes and practicing moderation.
For the next 10 weeks I’m going to try my best to be on the more strict side. My goal is to stay on my meal plan 100% allowing myself 1 not so horrible off-plan meal every week or 2. I’m also going to be making sure I’m drinking 4 liters of water, taking my vitamins, and maintaining my 3 on 1 off, 2 on 1 off workout schedule. I’ll be reporting back to you guys each week with my progress. I weighed myself this morning and I was at 194.2. My lowest weight was last December when I was around 183. I’d like to be back in that range by surgery time. My stretch goal would be to be anywhere in the 170s. To even put that out there as a possibility is scary to me, mostly because half the time I feel like my body hates me and refuses to work right. I’m going to use the surgery as my external motivation to stay on track. Most of the time I’ve focused on weight loss has been with internal motivation. Having a deadline is terrifying and motivating at the same time. I want to be able to get the best results possible and I know I have it in me to do the work to get them.
I do my best when I give myself guidelines to work within. I’m using an app to track my daily habits like drinking water and taking vitamins, its basically the adult equivalent of getting a gold star on a chore chart. I’m still working with Precision Nutrition STL to help me fuel my body for performance and fat loss. I don’t want to drastically cut calories and lose muscle, I want to be as strong as I can be to help me through the recovery process.
I’d love for you all to join me and make a few focus goals for the month. Pick one health habit and tweet me or hit me up on instagram to show me how you are doing with your goals. We can check in here each week too! Having a group of people working with you to help hold you accountable makes all the difference!
What goals are you working towards?
